This existing roof was Eternit 2000 cement roof which has had repairs carried out to in on numerous occasions.

On surveying the roof it was concluded that leaks were occurring from the following areas.

Along the line of the roof lights and at the bottom lap of the roof sheets.

The PVC roof lights had been coated with a black covering and this was causing the roof lights to rapidly degrade due to weather conditions.

The Eternit sheep laps had been sealed and water was trapping which was causing capillary reaction (water back tracking into the building).

The existing steel gutters and the joints were perished and the steel gutter was severely corroded which was subsequently letting water into the building.

The client required the building to be open as its normal working hours so with careful programming we carried out the following works.

Removed all the existing PVC roof lights and replaced them with Brett Martin GRP roof lights.

All the sealed joints to the sheets were cut back and then we carried out remedial work to the fixings, tightening the fixings and sealing the washers.

We installed the Ampteam Unifold™ Guttering System to all the existing corroded gutters and these works will carry a twenty year guarantee.

The client was very satisfied with the end result of the roof and with the minimum disruption caused to the building and their members.
